I got my first acting gig through Backstage in New York. It was a film called ‘The Paper Boy.’ Eric Ogden was the director. I was living in NYC the summer of my junior-going-into-senior year of high school, interning in casting offices, doing that shit, and I was getting Backstage and looking for auditions. There was an audition for this short, so I went and auditioned and got a callback, and I was all fired up. It was my first real audition outside of, like, community theater, and I ended up getting it. I remember I was walking to work one morning and I got a phone call from the director being like, ‘You wanna do this thing?’ I was like, ‘Ah!’ I remember walking down the street with my hand in the air.
